A. Learning Outcome
1. Gain Shakespeare Literacy
2. Analyze Shakespeare Critically
3. Engage Shakespeare Creatively
4. Share Shakespeare Meaningfully
5. Gain Digital Literacy
I think that I have definitely improved when it comes to my blogging. I do try to blog three times a week, but no less than two times a week. I’ve definitely seen improvement throughout the semester as I have gotten more comfortable and familiar with the idea of blogging. I do think I could be doing better though. Looking at the learning outcomes, I notice that I could do a better job at “Engaging Shakespeare Creatively” and “Share Shakespeare Meaningfully”. I have since made some personal goals to change that. I am still trying to get comfortable with blogging and letting others willingly see my work. Oftentimes I still feel like I don’t have anything spectacular to say. I’m working on that J I have also realized that some of my better, and favorite, blog posts have been when I personally relate the material to my life. That is something I definitely need to work on improving. Also, I know I need to comment more on other blogs. I do believe I have gotten better in that respect, but there’s also definite room for improvement.
B. Self-Directed Learning
Throughout the semester, I have been trying to focus on my self-directed learning. As I have been reading the plays, and occasionally on my blog posts, I have been leaving notes for myself to research a certain fact or possibility. I know that that has made it easier for me to guarantee I’m getting something from the material. It also gives me a frame of reference for when it comes to blogging. I already know something I can mention in my post.
What I have noticed others doing to direct their own personal learning is specifically sharing it with others. Some people are very open with their views and it makes it easy for them to talk to their friends, or post their blog on Facebook. It’s something that I know I need to work on. I’ve never been able to do that easily, and so I can’t say I really try that hard. But I have a few goals in mind that should help me improve in that area. So I guess we’ll see how that goes! J
C. Collaborative and Social Learning
C. Collaborative and Social Learning
I think Emily and Marina have been able to help me with my learning most. We live right next to each other so we’ve often read together and watched the different variations of the plays together. Since I am so close to them I am more willing to discuss with them my thoughts on Shakespeare. I work with Marina as well, and sometimes we’d discuss Shakespeare as we’re cleaning. I also look at Rebecca’s and Sarah’s blogs often, and I appreciate their opinions on the matter.
In class, I think we could have more time in groups to discuss the material. I think that would help us all reach the learning outcomes better as we bounce ideas off one another and hear each other’s incites.
This part is something I really need to work on. I might mention something incredibly briefly to a roommate, but I don’t leave much room open for discussion. I need to focus on doing this.**
D. Looking Ahead
D. Looking Ahead
I plan on posting some of my blog posts on Facebook. Although nothing may come of it, I have given others the opportunity to look at what I have to say. I also plan on commenting more on other people’s blogs and being more open to discussing. Creatively, I was thinking of comparing some of the character’s in Shakespeare’s plays to food and then making one or two of the food items for fun. I was also thinking of maybe doing a sonnet in sign language? I’m taking a sign language class this semester and have really enjoyed it. I’m just not incredibly good at it, which makes me question the possibility of doing it. I think that would be a fun and creative way to depict Shakespeare though.
